Azzi Williams is a Sydney-based artist and media executive living on the Northern Beaches. Her work has been exhibited extensively in Sydney and London. Her latest collection ‘After the rain’ is a journey towards uncovering new transformations (light, dark, exciting and frightening) after washing away the old.

Seaweed can flourish in all parts of the world from the topics to the poles in fresh or salt water environments. We have only managed to cultivate a few dozen varieties, incredibly diversity of seaweeds could help to bring back a balance in our ecosystems through a diverse range of uses. This could happen in a number of ways. Food for Humans and animals, replace plastics, for use in fertilisers, use in medical development in new drugs. Mitigate global warming, and repair biodiversity.
For million’s of years Seaweed has supported our development, we have lost our connection with it. Today world population growth combined with climate change, and a potential social and environmental crisis, gives us a compelling reason to reconsider this forgotten treasure. The seaweed revolution is a fresh hope for all our futures.
