People of a Time & Place Volume II: Razorhurst Series
TAP Gallery | 2–15 June 2025
Sydney wasn’t built on sunshine. It was shaped in the backstreets — by villains, fighters, and survivors who clawed for scraps of power, pride, and survival.
In People of a Time & Place: Volume II, Sydney painter Sean Burgess drags Razorhurst’s ghosts back into the light. Not the polished legends — the raw ones. The bloody, broken, defiant ones. The faces that built the city’s backbone long before the harbour sparkled for postcards.
This is the Sydney they don’t put in the brochures: sharp-edged, restless, alive. Each canvas pulls from a time when life was brutal and every choice left a scar. Burgess doesn’t whisper their stories — he spits them back into the world with grit under his nails.
Artesque: villains, fighters, survivors — no apologies, no pretty endings. Just the truth of a city born fighting.
