”Addressing ‘’cute’’ as a weapon of mass seduction, it may solicit but it does not let itself be seduced. ‘’Bedroom fantasies’’ is derived from the foundational experience of girlhood, when one is isolated in their room and dreams of the world outside. Each artist extends the range of what is acceptable subject-matter to provoke introspection, drawing on themes that are embarrassing and uncomfortable, expressed through multimedia forms.  Novel phrases such as cute, whimsical, cosy and erotic do not weaken the intensity of the works but instead amplify them. ”

Iman Irannejad - Untitled - Tap Gallery

IMAN IRANNEJAD – Helllife – Paintings. 12-18 Feb 24. Drinks with the artist Tuesday 13th Feb 6pm.

Iman Irannejad – Helllife – paintings

Iman Irannejad - Helllife - painting - TAP Gallery
Iman’s art delves into the complexities of human existence, unraveling desires, fears, and the essence of being. He portrays individuals not solely based on their outward appearance but rather as reflections resonating within him. Departing from a linear narrative of events, he shapes characters and narrates their stories in a state of uncertainty. For Iman, this uncertainty and complexity symbolise the challenges humans often face, unfolding simultaneously in life.

This exhibition is a journey through Iman Irannejad’s emergence as an artist in 2023. It showcases paintings created during his time in Sydney and a three-month period in Berlin, where he participated in an artist residency at Takt Berlin and attended the Berlin Art Institute Studio Programs. The progression of his work reveals a cohesive exploration thread. Initially, he focused on dominant figures and employed more realistic techniques. Subsequently, he transitioned to experimenting with expressive techniques while exploring similar concepts, maintaining a consistent perspective throughout his body of work.

In essence, Iman’s artwork explores life, human experiences, and, fundamentally, his personal journey and connections with others. He communicates these diverse states of being through various mediums and techniques, unveiling the authentic emotions concealed beneath the surface.

Art Deco Katoomba - Roman Gryg -Tap Gallery

ART DECO KATOOMBA – An exhibition by Roman Gryg – extended till Jan 27 12-6pm daily.

Art Deco Katoomba Roman Gryg

Roman Gryg - Art Deco Katoomba Tap Gallery
Katoomba is bohemian artistic town – cafes overflow with hippies and eccentrics

The real beauty of Katoomba lies in its scruffy streets and sad little lanes .
Katoomba has a romantic feel about it from the 1920s when it was a honeymoon mecca and a coal miners town.
Many Art Deco buildings were built in the mid 1920s. What a fascination Art Deco is.
The skies the limit. That is the feeling art deco gives, futuristic full of hope .
Art deco buildings like Cafe Niagara, the Savoy cafe, the Avalon, the Rivers Clothing shop at least 30 Art Deco buildings I’ve counted .

Tap Art Gallery Close Xmas 2023

DAVID SWEENEY’S FIRST EXHIBITION – 19TH – 24TH DECEMBER – OFFICIAL FUNCTION TUESDAY 19TH 6-9PM.

David Sweeney first exhibition

“Lesley Dimmick has reminded me that my exhibition is imminent and that it is time to write a spiel to promote it. And with her reminder, reality bared their teeth. Another commitment looming and I am racing to get ready!   Not only that, I am also obliged to write something credible about my paintings.

I will be exhibiting framed works of oil paintings on paper and a couple of framed colour pencil drawings of the East Sydney Hotel in action.  They have been framed by Sokquon Tran. The framing is modern and the craftsmanship is so good it could have been undertaken in Amsterdam during the Dutch Golden Age. I am also completing oil paintings on canvas and linen.   I will need as much time as possible between now and when I hang on 18 December 2023 to finish painting; so if you come to my exhibition, please don’t touch them! 😊

The paintings will be a mix of portraits, self portraits, seascapes, and landscapes. Some will be more trippy than others.

Thank you

David Sweeney”
