Sydney NSW 2021 | (02) 9380 7414 | www.bamboostickyrice.com The mobile phone photos in this showcase exhibition were submitted to the competition “Picture Postcode 2010″, an event on the program of the Oxford Arts Festival. Images were sought to depict the vibrant urban villages of Darlinghurst and Surry Hills; its people, characters, lifestyle, urban landscapes, pets and anything else that caught the imagination, and the moment, via mobile phone camera. The people behind the photos are often as colourful and interesting as their images, and the results highlight the creativity inherent to this postcode; with its art schools, galleries, performance venues and plethora of creative services. Enquiries: Polly Chin | Event Curator and Producer | polly.chin1@gmail.com

(Aek Phakiti, “The Giant Cock”, 2011, oil on canvas, 100 cm x100cm) 20-26 February 2012 This exhibition is a showcase of Aek Phakiti’s eclectic range of oil paintings on canvases. His art has been commended as vibrant, bold and simultaneously diverse. His art includes a series of landscapes, seascapes, portraits and still life. Aek incorporates inspirational, intellectual, cultural, emotional and/or spiritual dimensions into his art work through an impressionist/expressionist style. About Aek I am originally from Chiang Mai, Thailand and came to Australia in 1999. I have had a strong passion in art since my early childhood. My interests and skills in art have been influenced by my love of the nature and environment, culture and religion, and interactions with people around me and artists I come across. I am an academic at The University of Sydney. As a life balance management strategy, painting is my hobby.

A previously unexplored union of female comedians and male magicians has proven to create a unique symbiosis that flows from the stage to the audience and back again. Audience members who have been present at a Magic Comedy Night have used words like “electric”, “delightful” and “thoroughly entertaining” to describe their experience. Both experienced and emerging female comics tell their hysterically funny tales in a showcase that is as varied as it ts colourful. Each set reaches its climax with a performance of magic and illusion by a selection of Sydney’s finest magicians. These two divergent art-forms produce an exciting bond leaving audiences feeling satisfied and light-hearted. $12, $10 for concession. Doors open at 6:30pm Call (02) 9361 0440
